“My reason for racing is to bring hope to the hopeless, to bring joy to those in despair and to bring relief to the burdened. My heart is passionate for helping children as I faced traumatic years of an undiagnosable condition with my youngest daughter.

So September 5, 2011, I raced the Austin Avia Olympic Distance Triathlon in honor of a little girl who is living with us now, who also is battling an undiagnosable condition very similar to the one my daughter faced 3 years ago!  I signed up last minute even though I felt a little unprepared. I knew TRYING the “TRI”athlon for RILEY would bring a couple hours of DEDICATED prayer for her.

As I swam a mile through the murky waters of Town Lake I prayed for her to be able to SEE a finish line even though everything looks unclear right now, as I biked 25 miles and felt a little SHAKY in the gusts of wind, I prayed for God to give her STRENGTH when she felt weak, and as I pounded the ground for 6 miles of a 7:13- paced run, I prayed with all of my MIGHT for a breakthrough.  

Finally, as I raced to the finish line, my heart pounded harder and harder as I exerted myself both physically and spiritually. My breathe became strained yet as I saw the FINISH LINE ahead I became JOYFUL —  I raised my hands to the Lord’s Heavens as I BROKE through it in TEARS of JOY that RILEY’S finish line was NEAR. …   The Lord surprised me as I placed 4th with no expectations of any top finishing. BUT greater was the  joy when I was able to return home and place the medal around Riley’s neck and see her GIANT smile in bed!  Her medal is placed around the flowers that she can see throughout the day in her room — a reminder — HER FINISH LINE is NEAR!!!!  My prayer request to all who read this is to find a REASON and a CURE for RILEY!!!  

Please take a moment to pray for GOD to give her STRENGTH, JOY and AN APPETITE!!!!  And also, for each of you — do not be afraid to TRY!!!  When afraid, try entering into it in prayer—- you will find, you complete it with joy!”
